Cost Factors 10Gb Ethernet Development
Posted by sallyfiber in fiberstore.com on January 25, 2013
2013 increasingly unlikely to become a 10Gb/s Ethernet (10GbE) widely used. Of course, we will be told that this year will be 10Gb/s Ethernet year, like the past few years, we have been repeatedly told. The reason?, Not because of technical capacity- 10Gb/s Ethernet technology has stabilized down time- but because of the cost.

When 1000Base-T technology dominate the market, you can insert your own 10/100 devices to 10/100/1000 switch, then it can work. More important when 1Gb/s Ethernet switch port cost has dropped to a very low, that do not need to maintain high throughput on these links, we all feel myself spent the money on the port. If we need to 1Gb/s Ethernet on in there, even if most of the time we do not need.
Some people believe that 10Gb / s Ethernet will follow the same pattern, but even these optimists also began to predict the 2014 10Gbase-T will obtain more than an alternative solution deployment. Even at that time, we will continue to face and deal with all types of 10GbE interface types.
The price is still an obstacle. The price of each switch port 1000Base-T can be only $10, while the most common type 10GbE ports- SFP+ - switch port cost should be $300, I expected that this cost can be reduced to less than $200 before the end of the year. 10Gbase-T is still a little more expensive than the unit cost of switch ports SFP+ transceiver, compared to SFP+ 10Gbase-T in the market even more rare.

Cisco will tell you 10Gbse-T timing is now. Of course, it must rely on like unit Gb costs like lying to convince people. Most of the enterprise is not prepared to improve the connection bandwidth, so only imagine that we will do is trying to sell ten gbe can only show manufacturers not willing to participate in the 10GbE market to commercialization.
Clever PPT slides can rant “10 times the bandwidth of only three times the cost”, but it just evaded the real mainstream adoption problem: most enterprises do not need 10 times the bandwidth, but also do not want to pay the cost of three times.
If you exchange infrastructure is the Cisco the end- to -end, you may not care about how costs. You may not care about the $100 SFP+ Direct Connect cable or $300 of SFP+ fiber optic transceiver. If your business depends on the commodity SMEs switch, then you like me would have been almost free 1Gb/s link, until 10GbE down to a reasonable price level.
Cisco, Juniper and other vendors are not prepared to promote commercialization. They have faced the problem of marginalization in the 2013 market. Software-defined notwork is increasingly becoming a threat to proprietary products, and ultimately it may crowd out our core infrastructure for decades to these vendors.
Intel has great fanfare 10GbE configuration to the motherboard, and promote its commercialization. All servers in the future will be ready to adopt 10GbE, but for many companies, they will no one dialogue with them.
As the the switch chip giant Intel can choose to let 10Gbase-T tomorrow explosive appeared in a quarter of the market. The company produces excellent 10GbE switch chip – a very low price to the D-Link or Netgear will rewrite the pattern of the whole market.
Unfortunately, Intel does not look ready to save the SME market in 2013, its switching chip is currently being deployed as an alternative solution for Cisco products in the high-end competition. Early 10GbE prices down to commodity levels of Intel and uneconomical.
With the warming of the mobile market, as manufacturers strive to produce different types of chips increasing, it seems other manufacturers not idle production capacity to reduce 10GbE switch chip, especially new 40-nanometer process switch chip -this chip will it be possible to 10Gbase-T reasonable energy consumption level. (However, if you are really worried about energy consumption, 10Gbase-T or not considered)
So we have to wait – for one year, possibly two years. If you also hope that this year its price has fallen sharply, and I advise you not to hold this hope. 10GbE year will come, but not in 2013.
Why Thunderbolt Interface Has Not Yet Universal?
Posted by sallyfiber in fiberstore.com on January 25, 2013

Thunderbolt interface since early 2011 has been nearly two years, the terro of 10Gb/s transmission speed (fiber optic Thunderbolt even up to 100Gb/s) and no one can, but also to achieve the power supply as well as convenient device extension can be described as broad prospects, has been applied on a series of Apple Mac computers. Compared to PC, Mac after all, belong to a small minority, and so long gone, but on the absolute number of advantages PC the rare Thunderbolt interface figure, the average consumer is almost nobody used. Why is this?
The problem lies in the development of this technology – Intel (Thunderbolt technology for Intel and Apple to develop). Intel Thunderbolt technology marketing and planning Jason Ziller, director revealed that Intel will be and who they think has the ability to provide the best products and manufacturers to meet stringent certification requirements for close cooperation. From which it is not hard to understand why the market is difficult to see the Thunderbolt notebook interface.
Thunderbolt interface represents the future trend of the transmission, but there are many obvious drawbakcs, the high cost of the mainstream market is difficult to accept, the cost of the control chip will soon become mainstream USB 3.0 several times higher. In addition, the Windows system drive, perfoemance, compatibility, hot-swappable performance there is a lot of instability. Thunderbolt interface does not PC manufacturers are required the motherboard supports Thunderbolt interface on the market.
Jason Ziller also said that this year will be to expand the scope of the technology licensing vendors. There are some indications that lightning interface situation seems to change, Apple quietly released a half meter short cable, the price is $ 10 less than 2011 m transmission line, Corning this year’s CES show a new cable, you can transfer data at a distance of several hundred feet.

FiberStore Optimistic About The Future of Optical Communications Market
Posted by sallyfiber in fiberstore.com on January 25, 2013
In the field of fiber optic communication industry marketing consulting, FiberStore as a rising star, given the forecast is always to be optimistic than others. Now, shouted the slogan but also winter in China some of the veterans of the optical device manufacturers, FiberStore said yesterday that the earliest the second half of the year, most likely next year, the fiber optic communication industry usher in a new round of boom. Their reason is that AT & A and Deustche Telekom announdced last year that the next three years will be an annual increase of 10% to 15% of investment, and other carriers are likely to follow up.
First, China’s three major operators in the world’s largest 15 operators market share increased from 17% in 2007 to 27% now. Share of the three major U.S.operators during the same period from 28% down to 24%. This rise and that drop, the growing importance of the Chinese market. But China’s economy can not maintain past growth rate of 9% to 10% target for 2013 is now 7.5%. Nevertheless, the growth of China’s telecom industry outlook remains bullish.
For example, China Telecom has 75 million 3G users, but all mobile users a little more than 10%. In FTTH, FTTH network operators in China to cover the world’s first, but the average speed is much lowe than the level of the United States, not to mention Japan and South Korea. Based on this, China’s economic slowdown will not be significant impact on the global telecommunications market.
Second, AT & T and Deutsche Telekom said that operators do exist in the past few years the problem of insufficient network investments. If you take into account the price war in the field of equipment manufacturers, operators of commercial lower prices for better fiber optic products and technology is very possible, which will stimulate investment in equipment operators.
Third, FiberStore predict a major starting point is the relationship between the growth of Internet traffic and network bandwidth growth. Based on the network bandwidth will continue in the next few years to more than 30% of the rate of growth, their model shows that the growth of bandwidth on the growth of the market as a whole is very obvious. For example, in 2014 the network bandwidth from 33% to 40% of the change in optical devices to improve the sales growth forecast from 15% to 55%. Development of IP video from the United States, or from CES2013 new broadband standards, the emergence of a new terminal products, the future growth of the network bandwidth and Internet traffic are still can be expected. In FiberStore opinion, this is the fundamental reason for the optical communications market continue to be optimistic.
1000Base-SX Standard and 1000Base-SX SFP Module
Posted by sallyfiber in fiber optic transceiver on October 17, 2012
An Ethernet standard that transmits at 1 Gbps. Used mostly to connect high-end workstations and servers as well as for network backbones, Gigabit Ethernet transmits full duplex from point to point using switches and half duplex in a shared environment (CSMA/CD) using a hub.
The first IEEE Gigabit Ethernet standard (802.3z) was defined in 1997 for use over multimode optical fiber and two years later for copper cables
1000BASE-SX is one of the IEEE802.3z standard made for the laser transceiver witch work on short wavelength multimode fiber (850mm). When use 62.5pm multimode fiber, link distances can be up to 260m; when use 50pm multimode fiber, connection distance up to 550m.
1000Base SX SFP is the small form hot swappable fiber optic transceiver, which work with multimode fiber for linking. When used with 62.5 MMF its max-working span is around 220 meters, when used with 50 MMF its max-working span is around 550 meters. Typical 1000Base SX transceivers like Cisco GLC SX MM and SFP GE S. the latter is with DOM support and extended working temperature.
The maximum distance between nodes is based on the type of transceiver and cable used as outlined below.
1000Base-SX (802.3z)
62.5 multimode 160 220
62.5 multimode 200 275
50 multimode 400 500
50 multimode 500 550
1000Base SX SFP tranceiver are used in Gigabit Ethernet and they are fully compatible with 1000Base-SX standards defined by IEEE. Fiberstore offer the 1000Base SX SFP transceiver modules, our products are fully compatible with IEEE 802.3z for Gigabit Ethernet and our optical transceivers are fully compatible to use with the equipment from other suppliers.

The latest Netgear products – such as netgear modules , netgear router has gone on sale, providing another option for customers seeking a complete, managed user experience.
Here I will introduce one kind of Netgear Router and Netgear module.
The Netgear MVBR1210C HSPA+ Mobile Broadband Voice Router, developed with Sierra Wireless, extends mobile voice service via its wired voice port.
As such, it allows mobile operators to deliver a compelling voice and data service offering to consumers by eliminating the need for fixed line voice service.
The router also delivers broadband access at speeds up to 21Mbps downstream and 5.7Mbps upstream – capabilities comparable to fixed broadband services.
It integrates a secondary Ethernet WAN to provide failover and back-up for network access, and for LAN connectivity, there are four Ethernet ports and high-speed N300 802.11n Wi-Fi.
The availability of the Netgear MVBR1210C represents “an important milestone” in extending mobile voice services into the home. The router fulfils the mobile industry’s long-envisioned conversion of voice services to principally mobile. This enables mobile operators to consolidate their voice service penetration by extending ‘mobile-to-mobile’ calling to home phones. According to IT analyst IDC, the global router marker saw 7.3 per cent quarter-on-quarter growth during Q4 2011.
The main netgear module i wiil tell you is the netgear AXM762 module, that is one of the hot products in the market. Cisco GBIC Product Line Application
Posted by sallyfiber in gbic transceiver module on October 11, 2012
The word GBIC is an IT industry term which stands for Gigabit Interface Converter. A GBIC is a variety of Optical Transceiver, which is designed to convert serial electric signals into serial optical signals. GBIC modules are typically inserted into a network switch in order to connect a Fiber Optic system with an Ethernet system. The most common applications where GBIC modules are used include Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet.
The GBIC is fully hot swappable, which adds to its flexibility and ease of installation. It has become a standard form factor for optical transceivers, and can support a variety of physical media, from legacy copper to long wave single mode fiber up to lengths of hundreds of kilometers
Cisco GBIC modules and 3rd party equivalent, MSA (Multi Source Agreement) compliant modules can be interchanged on a wide variety of Cisco products and can be intermixed in combinations of 1000BASE-T, 1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-LX/LH, 1000BASE-ZX, 1000BASE-CWDM, or 1000BASE-DWDM interfaces on a port-by-port basis.
The WS-G5483 is Cisco’s 1000BASE-T GBIC product, which connects a GBIC port to Category 5 wiring using a standard RJ-45 interface. The maximum Category 5 wiring distance is 328 feet (100 meters).
The WS-G5484 is Cisco’s 1000BASE-SX GBIC product, which operates on legacy multimode fiber (MMF) optic link spans up to 1815 feet (550 m) and on laser-optimized multimode fiber (OM3) optic link spans up to 3281 feet (1 km).
The Cisco WS-G5486 is Cisco’s 1000BASE-LX/LH GBIC product, which allows for reaches up to 6.2 miles (10 km) over single-mode fiber (SMF) and up to 550 meters over multimode fiber (MMF).
The Cisco WS-G5487 is Cisco’s 1000BASE-ZX GBIC product, which operates on ordinary single-mode fiber optic link spans up to 43.4 miles (70 km) long. Link spans of up to 62 miles (100 km) are possible using premium single-mode fiber or dispersion shifted single-mode fiber. The GBIC provides an optical link budget of 21 dB – the precise link span length will depend on multiple factors such as fiber quality, number of splices, and connectors
